Good Luck, Dear Girl – A Turn of the Century Romance is the story of Frederick’s son, Duncan and his wife Gertrude. Sarah, Frederick’s wife, offloaded his children, Duncan and Jessie, to the Puckle family when Frederick became mentally unstable. His uncles decided he should be sent to New Zealand to forge a life for himself removing him from the stain of his father’s insanity.
The Puckle Project – Finding Frederick follows the chaotic life of Frederick Puckle – a 19th century London drug broker. He married a widow with six children, became increasingly eccentric and left his family to live in Burma (now Myanmar) and Spain. His English brothers were required to repatriate him from Cadiz to England where he spent the last decade of his life in lunatic asylums.
